ETIAS is a pre-travel authorisation for travellers who are currently exempt from the Schengen visa. Since Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian and Egyptian nationals already require a full Schengen visa (Type C), ETIAS adds nothing new for you. You continue to apply for a Schengen visa exactly as before. ETIAS does not change your visa requirements in any way.

ETIAS is scheduled for Q4 2026 and is not yet operational. Any website currently claiming to offer ETIAS applications is fraudulent. The only official ETIAS application will be through the European Union's official website when it launches. Do not pay any fee to any third-party site claiming to process ETIAS applications before the official launch.

Do Moroccans need ETIAS?
No. ETIAS applies only to currently visa-exempt nationalities. Moroccans already need a full Schengen visa and ETIAS does not change this. Algerians, Tunisians and Egyptians are in the same situation.

When is the ETIAS launch date?
ETIAS is scheduled for Q4 2026 according to the European Commission. The exact launch date has not yet been officially announced. The European Commission will communicate the date in advance to allow travellers to prepare.
Is ETIAS the same as a Schengen visa?
No. ETIAS is a quick online pre-travel check for visa-exempt travellers (EUR 7, minutes to process). A Schengen visa is a full consulate application process for nationalities not exempt from visa requirements (EUR 90, weeks to process with full documentation). They are completely separate systems for different groups of travellers.
Does ETIAS affect the 90/180 day Schengen rule?
Yes. ETIAS holders — like all non-EU travellers — remain subject to the 90/180 day Schengen rule. A maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen countries. The EES system (operational since April 2026) tracks this automatically.
